Consultancy for the Georeferencing of Certified Farms of Small and Medium Producers affiliated to CONACADO Agroindustrial, as part of the Binational project to support the Cocoa / Chocolate value chain.

Under the 11th EDF bi-national Programme, Caribbean Export along with its bi-national partners are pursuing the development of a Binational Value Chain Strategy for the Cocoa/Chocolate sector in Haiti and the Dominican Republic (DR), in order to maximize the potential export from both countries.

As part of the Strategy, ten (10) beneficiaries from the cocoa sector in Haiti and the DR were identified, (five (5) from each country), to be part of the Value Chain Project and an individual strategy/a detailed Action Plan was prepared for each, to improve its quality and international competitiveness, including possible collaborations with other international institutions.

In August 2020, Caribbean Export started with the implementation of the individual strategies and action plans for the beneficiary companies of the Project.

This consultancy has been developed in response to an immediate need for the beneficiary company CONACADO SA.


The objective of this consultancy is to hire the services of a consultant / consultants to provide a service for the georeferencing of 1000 farms certified under the EU / NOP organic standard, of small and medium producers affiliated to the CONACADO group.

Likewise, the consultant must carry out training / coaching in order to process the data collected in the field and feed the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the georeferencing of one thousand (1000) certified organic cocoa farms.

Specific activities:

1. Provide a training / coaching service to the CONACADO technical team involved in the georeferencing process in order to process the data collected in the field and feed the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the georeferencing of cocoa farms.

2. Provide coaching in recognition, management and application of GPS, equipment configuration, taking points, routes (tracks), calculation of areas, altitude, search function, edit data in GPS, upload files to GPS, download data.

3. Software for downloads and data management: Provide coaching for DNR Garmin, MapSource, Software installation, data downloads to computer, QGIS free software, download and installation.

4. Report generation: Edit parcel plans, points and lines in Qgis, calculate areas, length and perimeter, edit fields (name, codes, areas, uses, etc.), view various layers or files in Qgis (infrastructures, rivers, protected areas). 5. Generation of maps: Prepare a map for printing, export maps and layers in different formats (shapefile, csv and kml), modify data, visualize in QGis and Google Earth.
