Chris Doherty Chris Docherty is the Managing Director of Windward Commodities, an international group with investments in food brands and agricultural supply chains across the Caribbean, Southern Africa and the Pacific. Windward has a long track record of building, leveraging, licensing, selling and protecting Intellectual Property globally with a focus on the Caribbean. Chris is a non-executive director of the Caribbean Council and Chairman of the West Indies Sugar & Trading Company Ltd (WISTCO), Barbados. WISTCO sells branded Barbados sugar to retailers across the Caribbean, the EU and USA and pays producers over double the world price for the sugar it buys, helping to support the wider industry. He has global blue-chip experience building brands for Shell International and the SOL group and wide experience with Windward creating Intellectual Property across traditional commodity sectors for the benefit of producers in the developing world. He has a MA from Oxford University, a postgraduate diploma in marketing and has lived in Barbados, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Brazil. He believes passionately in the potential for the Caribbean and other small island states to improve food security and livelihoods by creating and leveraging Intellectual Property to produce more and import less.
