The Business of Music (BOM) programme has been developed with a focus on building the capacity of regional music managers and artistes.

The Business of Music Face to Face Sessions will take place in Barbados on the 11th and 12th November at the Hilton Barbados Resort in Needham’s Ballroom 1.

The trainers are Paul Brindley, CEO and Co-founder, Kushal Patel – Marketing & Training Manager and Patrick Ross – SVP, Digital Strategy, from Music Allay Ltd.

The Agenda is as follows:

DAY ONE – Monday November 11th

9:30 am- Welcome and Introductions  

Paul Brindley – CEO and Co-founder Music Ally Ltd. 

Allyson Francis – Services Specialist- Caribbean Export Development Agency  

 10:00 am- Labels and publishers: understanding the different types of labels and publishers, what services they provide  

 10.45 am- YouTube Optimisation and Strategy: the mystery of the algorithm; driving traffic within YouTube; SEO and YouTube; Hub vs Hero content strategies and YouTube Music  

 11.30 am- Official Photo and Coffee Break 

 12.00 pm- An interactive digital health check: advice and discussion on digital presence focused on examples from the attendees  

 1 pm- Lunch 

2.15 pm- The Entrepreneur/Artist Manager’s Perspective: in conversation with GENIUS. Jamaican born, GENIUS blurs the lines between DJ, musician, management, and label. Over the past few years, GENIUS has evolved as one of the elite music curators in the Atlanta Hip Hop scene; helping break major artists such as 2 Chainz, Migos, and business partner, K CampThis includes a Q&A session with the attendees.  

 3.15 pm- Coffee Break 

 3.45 pm- Lean and mean campaigns: inexpensive campaign tools and examples of campaigns run on a shoestring  

 4.30 pm- Q&A: a chance for attendees to ask questions about the day 

 

DAY TWO – Tuesday November 12th

10.00 am- Welcome and outline of today’s session  

10.15 am- Building an artist team: managers, PR and booking agents  

 11.15 am- What to expect from your distributor: an interactive discussion where we discuss delegates’ experiences with digital distributors and what to expect from your distributor  

 12.00 pm- Chartmetric and data – introductory presentation on how Chartmetric works by Jason Joven, Manager, Content and Insights at Chartmetric. This session will cover the main features and lead into a broader discussion on the importance of data. 

 1 pm- Lunch 

 2.15 pm- Advertising on Facebook – An introduction to Facebook advertising and audiences   

 3.15 pm- Coffee Break 

 3.45 pm- Final Q&A with presenters 

 4.30 pm- Ends
