The Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Service Industries (TTSCI) led a successful Services Trade Mission to Guadeloupe and Martinique, where more than 85 business-to-business meetings were arranged between the Trinidadian delegates and their French Caribbean counterparts.
Several of the participants secured business opportunities, particularly in the tourism, education and entertainment sectors, while others have developed relationships which may lead to exchanges and trading opportunities. The TTSCI will be working with the participants to translate these discussions into successful projects.
TTCSI partnered with the Chambers of Commerce in Martinique and Guadeloupe to facilitate the meetings. Funding was provided under the Direct Assistance Grant Scheme of the Caribbean Trade and Private Sector Development Programme (CTPSDP) funded by the European Union, 9th European Development Fund for CARIFORUM countries and administered by Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export).
6th Task Force Meeting
Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) is to host the 6th CARIFORUM/French Caribbean Outermost Region (FCOR)/Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) Task Force on Trade and Investment on October 27-28, 2010 in Martinique. The meeting will examine existing projects such as Invest Karaib (see TradeWatch, July-August 2010) in order to identify practical solutions for improving trade among the parties.
“We will be presenting a study on the state of play in the area of trade in goods and services,” says Carlos Wharton, Caribbean Export. At the meeting, Caribbean Export will also introduce a consultant who will carry out a similar, limited survey on agro processing and professional services for CARIFORUM and Curacao.
