Financial Advisor Joins Caribbean Export Team

Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) is hoping to further enhance and develop its Sub-Regional Office in the Dominican Republic with a recent addition to its team.

Economist Alba Milagros Diaz, whose appointment as financial advisor, is expected to strengthen the technical team, will increase the Sub Regional Office’s capacity to manage and develop projects and programmes for the Agency.

Ms Diaz has over 20 years professional experience in the financial-accounting arena, both in the private sector and within international financial institutions.  Her responsibilities at Caribbean Export include maintaining effective financial management systems and managing the financial provisions of the Contribution Agreement between Caribbean Export and European Commission. In her current post, she will be providing support for the analysis of financial information submitted in projects and grants applications and facilitating the preparation of financial-accounting information required by the stakeholders.

Sharing her vision for the development of Caribbean Export, the financial advisor said she visualises the organisation as one “through which national economies are able to mitigate some of their individual limitations and strengthen their market position by enhancing trade relations inter-regionally.  Working together, CARIFORUM Member States can seek to open up wider niches such as in Latin America, U.S., Europe and even Asia.”

Ms. Diaz holds a degree in Financial Management and is finalising a Masters degree in Management and Analysis of Public Policies in the Carlos III University, Madrid, Spain.
