Rules of Origin Workshop, June 26, 2009

  -

Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) in association with the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association (TTMA) and the CARICOM Secretariat will host a workshop on Rules of Origin at the Ken Galt Hall, Centre of Excellence, Macoya, Trinidad and Tobago, on June 26.  The objective of this workshop is to expose manufacturers to the production criteria necessary to benefit from the preferential access offered under Free Trade Agreements.

The workshop will focus on the CARIFORUM-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) but will also cover the Rules of Origin governing the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) trade as well as the Rules of Origin within the CARICOM-Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement. The expected output from the workshop is a greater appreciation of the rules that govern market access and a better understanding of some of the constraints affecting producers' ability to meet the rules of origin. The technical presentations will be facilitated by the CARICOM Secretariat.
