To build closer cooperation among the members of the Invest Karaib project, four members of staff from the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) are to benefit from French language training courses.
The one month business French course will be mainly online, with one week’s training taking place in Martinique. The course, delivered through the partnership of the regional council of Martinique and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Martinique (CCIA) is scheduled to start in November. In exchange, Caribbean Export is to offer its Martiniquan counterparts training in project management.
“The agencies responsible need to find ways to work more closely together,” says Carlos Wharton, Caribbean Export. “We can’t do that if we’re only speaking our respective languages.”
The Invest Karaib Advisory Committee is to meet on October 26, in Martinique with a follow up meeting scheduled for November which will include a technical workshop on how the European Union-CARIFORUM Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) can be used to promote partnership between CARIFORUM and the French Caribbean Outermost Regions (FCORs). The meeting will also attempt to identify a suitable cooperation project in the area of sports tourism. The Invest Karaib project aims to develop deeper regional cooperation in the areas of trade and investment between CARIFORUM States and the FCORs.
