FASHION & CONTEMPORARY DESIGN ACCELERATOR

ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
The Caribbean Export Development Agency and Caribbean Development Bank through CIIF are collaborating to enable a larger cadre of professionals within the Creative Industries (CI) sector to be equipped with enhanced technical and business skills with the development of the FASHION & CONTEMPORARY DESIGN ACCELERATOR programme. This programme will provide participants with increased access to resources.
The FASHION & CONTEMPORARY DESIGN ACCELERATOR programme is open to 20 designers to participate in a 10-day accelerator workshop and become eligible to apply for a CIIF MSME grant and access to a market integration platform. The 10-day accelerator workshop will take place from May 6 – 16, 2019.
WHO IS THIS ACCELERATOR FOR?
Established Practitioners: Practitioners should have:
- been operating for more than five (5) years;
- have worked locally and regionally;
- their business formally registered.
All approved entities or individuals must be willing to allow for monitoring and evaluation for impact assessment for up to 24 months after the close of the programme and to allow for publishing of non-sensitive business information for programme promotional and development purposes.
WHAT WILL PARTICIPANTS LEARN?
The programme will include the following topics:
- Product refinement for various types of products and services including: elegant/ formal wear; ready-to-wear; menswear; children’s wear; resort wear; casual wear; cultural wear; accessories including jewelry, bags belts, shoes, scarves; and décor.
- Market placement
- Shopping your brand
- Brand development
- Social media for a successful brand launch
- Trade shows and showroom business
- Export readiness
- What buyers look for
WHERE WILL THE PROGRAMME TAKE PLACE?
The accelerator programme will take place at the University of Trinidad and Tobago, Trinidad.
HOW MUCH WILL BE COVERED?
Caribbean Export and CIIF will cover 85% of expenses, including airfare, accommodation for 10 days, course fees and some materials. Participants would be expected to cover three days’ worth of accommodation, meals and transportation, estimated at approximately USD 1000.
To participate in this programme designers are asked to complete the online application form by April 22, 2019
 Financial Grants will be accessible to 5 participants from CDB’s 19 Borrowing Member Countries. 10 participants will have access to the Caribbean Fashion Showroom through Caribbean Export – Caribbean Fashion Showroom.
