Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, August 29, 2016: The Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export), the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA), and the IPAs of Haiti and the Dominican Republic participated in the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development’s (UNCTAD) World Investment Forum 2016. Held in Nairobi, Kenya from July 17-19, 2016, within the framework of the 10th European Development Fund (EDF) Haiti-DR Bi-national Programme, the World Investment Forum presented a unique opportunity for the representatives of Haiti and the Dominican Republic to promote good networking prospects at the highest level.

Participation in the Investment Village with a Bi-national booth, allowed the Center for Facilitation of Investments of Haiti (CFI) and the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD), to display their investment promotions and other collateral material, as well as engage in dialogue with the other delegates of the WIF2016 on various investment opportunities.

UNCTAD CE delegationCAIPA was also recognised for their contributions to investment promotion and facilitation at the regional level, as well as for their outstanding partnership with UNCTAD. The President of CAIPA, Mr. McHale Andrew from Invest Saint Lucia, and the Deputy Executive Director of Caribbean Export, Mr. Escipion Oliveira, officially received this acknowledgement.

In addition, Mr. Andrew was invited to participate as a panellist at  the high level Tripartite Conference on Investment Promotion in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), discussing ways to promote FDI in SDG sectors, including physical and social infrastructure. The Caribbean Export delegation further benefited from this event through their engagement with UNCTAD, the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), Ministers from Curacao and The Bahamas, and the ACP Secretariat.

The WIF is the global forum for inclusive dialogue and policy formulation on investment-development, bringing together investment partners to discuss challenges, opportunities and policy solutions to meet the sustainable development goals.
