Caribbean Gift and Craft Show
Caribbean Export, in recognition of the vast export potential of the handicraft and apparel industries and their strategic linkages with the tourism and agriculture sectors, has developed programmes of assistance to enhance the export competitiveness of these important industries.
One such initiative is the Caribbean Gift and Craft Show (CGCS), which from its inception in 1993, has been in the vanguard of stimulating and promoting the development of new products, new markets and export sales.
Today, the CGCS has the stellar reputation of being the region’s premier trade show for the handicraft, gift and apparel sectors.
Caribbean Export and the Trade Facilitation Office Canada (TFO Canada) are cooperating on a programme of activities to support and augment the region’s handicraft and gift sectors. The programme which commenced in 2007, includes training and technical assistance i.e. intensive product development workshops for 8 companies from Barbados, Dominica, Haiti and Jamaica for the design of new products collections.
In February 2008, ‘Onsite Caribbean’ featuring the new product collections was launched at the Interior Design show in Toronto. Onsite Caribbean will also be showcased to members of a Canadian trade mission and other international and regional buyers at the 15th Caribbean Gift and Craft Show in Barbados October 2nd – 5th, 2008.
